Record number of entrepreneurs expected to register business in January

Research from domain name registration website 123 Reg has shown that a record number of entrepreneurs in Britain are expected to register their businesses this month.

The research found that January is a popular time for starting a business, with the majority of business websites being registered during this month.

The number of new registrations during the first week of the new year has increased by 20 per cent year on year, with entrepreneurs being 10 per cent more likely to launch a business in January than in any other month in the year.

The trend of entrepreneurs starting up their business in January could result in 10,000 new business websites being registered in the first week of the new year, which is a record number.

A number of entrepreneurs who set up their business at the start of the year said that doing so provided them with motivation.

123 Reg Digital Director Nick Leech said that from talking to customers, the company knows that many people use the holiday break from work to think of new and exciting business ideas and achieve their dream of starting a business.

He added: “This is especially true at times of economic uncertainty when people start new businesses either as a side project in case of a downturn at work or as a necessity to cover gaps in employment.”
