Google partners with Tinder Foundation to improve digital skills

Google has teamed up with the charity Tinder Foundation to help people across the UK improve their digital skills and increase their chances of finding a job or setting up their own business.

The scheme has been created as part of the Google Digital Garage programme, with funding helping to provide 100 centres for 5,000 community organisations.


The scheme will provide training for people who want to improve their digital skills through Google’s Digital Garage.

According to Google and Tinder Foundation, the project was created after a report from Lloyds Banking Group showed that over a million businesses in the UK lacked basic digital skills in 2015.

The report also found that some businesses do not believe that digital skills are important, with over a quarter stating that they are “irrelevant.”


Paul Davies of Destinations@Saltburn, one of the delivery partners for the project, said: “We’ve long supported people to improve their digital skills, which can range from individuals looking for work, to people looking to set up or expand small businesses.”

He added that the company is “delighted” to be part of the project with Tinder Foundation and Google, saying that Google’s resources are “a great way to introduce people to what digital can do for their business”.
